The Last Evacuee: Dagenham to Salcombe

This is is not a novel, but a true story. A World War Two story, but one where the boys and girls are heroes and adventurers. This is the story of how Arthur Huggins, aged just 91⁄2, was evacuated from Dagenham, Essex with his older brother and other children from various schools. They ended up 250 miles from home and family in Salcombe, South Devon. They went there to escape Hitlers bombers and the impending blitz. The bombers followed, but so did adventure: and this book lives to tell those stories.
