Once A Week

"Once A Week" is a humorous essay written by A.A. Milne that was first published in 1920. The essay takes a lighthearted look at the idea of "once a week" activities, such as going to the theatre or having a special dinner, and the anticipation and excitement that can build up around them. Milne playfully imagines what it would be like to have something to look forward to every day of the week, from "Monday muffins" to "Friday fireworks." Along the way, he pokes fun at various aspects of society, including the obsession with schedules and routines, and the way that people often try to make their lives more exciting by imposing arbitrary rules and rituals. The essay is written in Milnes trademark witty and whimsical style and is a charming snapshot of life in the early 20th century.
