Morphogenetic Studies on Bryophytes

Riccia gangetica Ahmad and Marchantia palmata Nees are bryophyte plants, which have an unique position in the evoluntary trends of cryptogames. Morphogenesis is the crosswords where all the highways of biological explorations trend to coverage where as investigator demonstrates or attemps to demonstrate, how physical process or system of chemical reactions can be closely and directly related to the ultimate variable reality.

Lantana camara Linn. have allelopathic effect. Allelochemicals produced by a plant escape into the environment and subsequently influence the growth and development of other neighbouring plants. In view of this I decided to work on the various developmental processes of Riccia gangetica and Marchantia palmata. The work is an attempt to study the allelopathic effect of Lantana camara, same, physical factors and chemical compound of both nutritive and hormonal nature of regeneration of Riccia gangetica and Marchantia palmata and spore generation of Riccia gangetica.
