John Eyre

A head injury cuts short John Eyres career as an oil rig diver and his romance with Rachel.

Big, damaged and psychically sensitive, John roams Central America, where he is beguiled by Maximon, a trickster god.

When the mask confining the god is stolen and a village asks John to find their protective spirit, he embarks on the riskiest of adventures.

As unearthly powers, not least Maximon himself, are awakened by a quest far greater than they realize, John and friends set off on a road trip through Las Vegas, Native American strongholds and Mexico, hunted by other gods to a fateful climax.

His allies are a reluctant Rachel, fellow lodgers from a London guest house, and a Guatemalan girl with a unique jade ball.
