Using insights gained from the use of many different scanner systems, this literature reviews intraoral scanner technology and discusses various scanners in the market today along with their advantages and disadvantages of using optical impressions compared to conventional impressions and also evaluate the differences between the IOS currently available commercially and determine the current clinical applications/limitations in the use of IOS.
