Hatfield and Its People: Part One:

This is part one of a series of booklets about the history of Hatfield in Hertfordshire. When this series of booklets was published 50 years ago, it was rightly regarded as an exceptionally authoritative and informative work. It has since remained unchallenged as the primary source of reference for anyone interested in the history of Hatfield. Recognising its enduring value, members of Hatfield Local History Society have undertaken this reissue now including a comprehensive index. Part one is designed to explain briefly some of the more important changes that have taken place in Hatfield through the ages, and especially to demonstrate the significance of Hatfields position on the Great North Road from London.
