Greenmantle is John Buchans second novel featuring the character of Richard Hannay and was first published in 1916 by Hodder & Stoughton, London. Greenmantle is one of two Hannay novels set during the First World War, Mr Standfast (1919) being the other. Hannays most famous adventure, The Thirty-Nine Steps (1915), is set just after the war.
