GENDER RELATIONS AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS ON RURAL DEVELOPMENT

This book analyzes gender relations and their impact on rural development in Mwingi District and rural Kenya in general. The author argues that men have always dominated decision-making at household and community levels. Consequently, the book explains the burden rural women shoulder in order to sustain their families amid social, cultural and economic dynamics and challenges. While the findings are not unique to the study area, as literature points out, the book emphasizes the need for intervention measures to offer equal opportunities to both men and women with regard to decision-making at household and community levels.
