In August of 1861, Queensland Constable Matthew Connolly was on horseback, carrying life-saving medication between the Queensland towns of Ipswich and Gatton. He risked his life to cross a flood-swollen stream and was swept away, losing his life in the torrent.
This story is the history of this brave policeman and how, many years later, his courage is finally being recognised.
