William James (1842 -1910), famous American psychologist and philosopher, was one of the strongest proponents of the school of Functionalism in psychology, and Pragmatism in philosophy. William studied medicine, physiology and biology before recieving a professional medical degree from Harvard university, where he spent his entire academic career.
