Chesterfield

Daniel Chesterfield is a 67" foul mouthed straight arrow with a trite sense of humor and deep love and respect for law, order, and justice. Trading in his detective shield in Palm Beach County, Florida for a Sheriffs badge in the rural town of Cowbell, Montana, he assumes the responsibility of overhauling the ill-reputed Bear Creek County Sheriffs Office Sub-Station. Not much of a challenge for a career lawman, right? Wrong!

None of the deputies have any formal training, no prior experience in law enforcement, they dont wear uniforms, and they use their personal vehicles to patrol the county. Ridiculed by other agencies and fellow law enforcement officers because of their ineptitude, Chesterfield is determined to provide the necessary training needed to transform them into reputable and capable deputies that will command the respect and honor of the townspeople.

The competency of the sheriffs office and its deputies is put to the test when the half-naked body of the daughter of a local, prominent rancher is found at Dead Mans Landing, a dangerous and restricted area that prohibits human access. A preliminary examination of the body suggests that Emma Coopers death was the result of a grizzly attack; however, forensic analyses concludes that not only was her death a homicide, but that shed given birth only minutes before her demise, yet no infant was found at the scene.

When Chesterfield visits Flying Aces Ranch to deliver the news to Harrison Cooper about the death of his daughter and disappearance of his grandson, he inadvertently stumbles upon a second crime thats being committed against him.
Is the person whos trying to kill Harrison Cooper the same person who murdered his daughter and stole her newborn son? Are the two crimes coincidental or are they connected? Chesterfields investigation will lead him to multiple suspects, but only one of them is guilty of murder, and the culprit is closer to Chesterfield than he couldve ever imagined.

Solving these two crimes isnt the only problem facing the new sheriff. A dangerous nemesis from his past has tracked him to Cowbell, intent on finishing the job he started months before - putting Daniel Chesterfield in his grave.
