Thomas Wilson is captain of the Demon and wants to protect the Rim. First, he must deal with pirates, dictators, and slavers. The Demon is always at battle stations. The navy protects the Imperium against the aliens. The Rim is expendable. Suzanna and Thomas have a passion that continues to grow. Suzanna tries to protect Thomas from his naivety. Omnia, a sentient AI, protects Thomas but has its own agenda. The navy gave Thomas the old ships at the navy graveyard. Thomas now has his own fleet, but will it be enough? Thomas comes into possession of ancient technology. The Imperium decided it must have the technology, and Thomas must die.
