The Very Soul of the War is at Stake.

Unknown to them all, a dark and deadly magical creature called a Black Whisper has been sent to hunt Tag and bring him to Uval and Kuran.

Humiliated, Uval thirsts for vengeance against Tag and may soon have the boy in his grasp thanks to the soul-stealing monster. He schemes tortures untold for the boy soldier who has come to be renowned as The Scythe.

Will Tag escape the clutches of his obsessive enemy? Can he and Randall set aside their differences and unite against a common foe? Or will they all be consumed by the dark maelstrom swirling around them?
