With his bag in hand, Shane was ready to walk out for good. Desperate, Ethan fumbled for words, blurting, "Dont go... Theres goose stew tonight."
Food over feelings, Shane paused. Goose stew was his favorite, after all. "Fine," he said grudgingly, "Ill eat first, then leave."
As Shane grew more confident (and well-fed), Ethan found himself treading lightly. Every day, something would set Shane off-whether it was dusty furniture, bland food, or the scale tipping a pound too low. His friends advised him to move on, to let Shane go.
But Ethan, with a strange fondness in his voice, replied, "Hes a habit I cant break."
