When she finds a scrap of paper from the past in her purse, Betty realizes that her dreams about her deceased husband may not be dreams at all. She can feel him around her even when shes awake. Every time she dreams about the past, she brings a little piece of it back with her to the present.
When she decides to change her past to give her more time with her husband, she doesnt anticipate the consequences her actions will have.
She wakes up to a reality different from the one she went to sleep in. Her grandchildren are gone. Her son has married a stranger. Betty has to figure out how to fix the damage shes done and make the present right again.
