The year is 1744, the height of the Atlantic slave trade and a time of growing global prosperity. Encouraged by his powerful father, William Sessarakoo - a young prince of the Fante people - sets out from West Africa, bound for England. To discover for himself what is true about this fabled land of kings and courtiers, and what is mere legend. In doing so, he would become something of a legend himself.
