Tooth supported fixed dental prosthesis, crowns, veneers and onlays are routinely used in fixed prosthetic dentistry to restore missing or decayed teeth and for aesthetic purpose. Management of the gingival tissue for access, visualisation, maintaining a controlled field for restoration placement and cementation can be accomplished with a variety of techniques. Tissue management is the key factor in accurately duplicating the sub gingival margin along with an accurate impression technique. To obtain consistent predictable results, the dentist must use different techniques to meet the specific clinical demand.
