Reuse of Textile mill sludge

Dr. Shrikant Jahagirdar from N K Orchid College of Engineering, Solapur, has conducted significant research on the "Reuse of Textile Mill Sludge" with a focus on sustainable waste management practices. His work explores the potential of utilizing sludge generated from textile mills, which is often considered a hazardous waste due to its chemical and organic content, as a raw material for various applications. The study investigates the chemical composition and physical properties of the sludge and assesses its suitability for reuse in building materials like Solid blocks, concrete, bricks and adsorbent for dye removal. Dr. Jahagirdars research demonstrates how textile mill sludge, when properly processed, can reduce environmental pollution, lower disposal costs, and provide an alternative material source for the construction industry. His findings contribute to the circular economy by promoting the recycling and reuse of industrial waste, aligning with sustainable development goals.
