Practical Disaster Management

Disaster Management has emerged as a megadiscipline in the world. This is only a natural fallout due to the fact that the world has been witnessing a plethora of intense disasters with catastrophic effects on human life dictating the course of every nations governance. Mitigation efforts cannot be compromised at any cost and these efforts are becoming complex with each passing day due to a fast paced development resulting in severe environmental imblances as well as the emerging geo-political situations. Institutional upgrades in disaster management notwithstanding, need has been felt to empower each human, in individual and collective capacity, to undertake preventive and mitigation efforts to make this world safe and secure and allow a natural balance to be established to sustain life. We the people, as the most accomplished and blessed race, must take up this challenge. This book is an effort to effort to empower a commoner to have a broad view of the threats and vulnerabilities he/she faces and take actions individually and collectively to prevent and mitigate disasters. For this purpose, a human should be trained formally from the school-going stage and informally through community awareness programmers. This book is expected to be useful to every one, especially the students, the teachers and infact, every human.
