Migration: Policies, Practices, Activism brings together a range of scholarly research papers to examine the place of international migration in the modern world, starting with the overview of migration and development by Alejandro Portes. There are many aspects to migration today which are treated in this collection, including new patterns of migration flows, asylum and the handling of refugees, multiculturalism, religious and cultural diversity, identity formation among immigrant communities, and the impact of migration upon social and economic development.
