In the Footsteps of Jack the Ripper

Since 1888 the gruesome crimes of Jack the Ripper have been a never-ending source of fascination to generations of professional, amateur, and armchair detectives. What is more, those murders are no nearer being solved today as they were back in Victorian times - or are they?

Bringing together a wealth of research materials along with new ideas, J. P. Sperati has meticulously investigated those dark deeds - the so-called canonical 5 murders plus a further 8 cases - which constitute the complete Whitechapel Murders spanning the years 1888-1891. Each case is treated in a historical context with extra information highlighting additional places of interest. Suspects are examined and eliminated, and a unique new conclusion regarding the identity of Jack the Ripper is presented. With over 250 (old and new) illustrations, 28 maps, and 2 walking tours this book is a must for all those interested in following in the footsteps of Jack the Ripper, as well as those interested in the history of Londons East End.
