Immunomodulating study of Securidaca longipedunculata (Polygalaceae)

Securidaca longipedunculata has a long history of use in resolving health problems associated with immunological disorders. The immunomodulatory activity associated with Securidaca longipedunculas anti-inflammatory effect has yet to be elucidated by scientific research. Qualitative and quantitative assays of the plants phytochemical compounds have been carried out using in vitro tests. The plants anti-inflammatory activity was assessed using chicken egg albumin denaturation inhibition and membrane stabilization tests. CAT, DPPH and lipoperoxidation inhibition tests were carried out to assess the plants antioxidant activity in vitro. Immunosuppression was induced in vivo by cyclophosphamide. The immunomodulatory activity of S. longipeduncula is studied by measuring leukocyte titer by Blood Count. C-Reactive Protein is measured to assess the plants anti-inflammatory activity in vivo. Lactate dehydrogenase titration showed the effect of S. longipeduncula extract on energy balance.
