English Drama Since 1940

<em>English Drama Since 1940</em> considers the developments of themes, styles, concerns and contexts, both for individual dramatists and stage drama generally during the period 1940 - 2000. David Rabey introduces us to the theatre and what it does by demonstrating the unique power of the articulate physical presence. He also identifies some of the principal ways that the issue of cultural value is manifested and dramatised in arguments for the presentation and subsidy of theatre in this period.
