Initially Meri complied with Jays insistence to having another baby. Yet as the demands and absences increased, so does Meris doubts With Jays overcommitment to the betterment of the community, Meri works to hold the family together, in addition to keeping up her projects.

As their arguments increase in private, and their paths diverge, something needs to give for them to achieve their balance as well as keep some semblance of stability.

Through the intensities of strains and heartaches, Chasing the Chance does not always evolve as wished for. Yet as they each learn their limits; they strive to discover other ways to fulfill their deeper longings, do better to understand each other, accept and receive what life has to offer.
