Antibiotics can be unanimously considered as drugs which have truly revolutionised healthcare by achieving adequate control of infections. The necessity for antimicrobial drug use in pediatric dentistry arises from a variety of circumstances, including odontogenic infections, oral wounds, periodontal disease, candidiasis, and primary herpetic gingivostomatitis. Antibiotic prophylaxis is an aid for pedodontic treatments in those situations where theres a risk of bacteremia. Successful management of infections relies on the practitioners knowledge of the microbiology of odontogenic and intraoral infections and the spectrum of activity, pharmacology, and adverse effects of the antimicrobial agents being prescribed.
