Four strangers wind up on the road together. One of their acquaintances hears the story and would like to tell it in writing, but wonders if he is the right narrator for the job. He seeks help from the people he has turned into characters. Serving as both their confidant and interrogator, he tries to make their journey more readable than it may have been, and more meaningful than they realized.
