Trade-in Service


What is the service?

Its is a service provided by Jarir bookstore that enable a customer to trade-in their old device and get the value as a discount to buy a new device.

Terms & Condition:

  1. Jarir Bookstore’s Device Trade-in Service allows you to exchange your old electronic device for a discount on a new device of your choice.
  2. Products from the following categories are eligible for trade-in (Smartphones, Smartwatches, Laptops, Tablets) in exchange for a discount on all products and services at Jarir Bookstore.
  3. Each customer is allowed to trade in a maximum of three devices per month.
  4. The service allows the trade-in of up to three old devices to purchase a new device, provided that the new device is of equal or higher value than the trade-in voucher.
  5. The value of the voucher can be redeemed using Jarir Bookstore’s gift vouchers.
  6. Completing the trade-in process requires the customer to be present in person for the verification of personal information (Name – Mobile Number – National ID / Residence Permit Number).
  7. The customer is required to show the verification message to the employee while completing the trade-in process.
  8. The self-assessment valuation provided through Jarir’s website is not considered a final valuation. The final valuation will be issued after the customer visits the store and the device is inspected by a Jarir Bookstore employee.
  9. The device will be tested by a Jarir Bookstore employee and classified based on its age, condition, the accessories included with it, and the results of the device inspection on the manufacturer’s website.
  10. Jarir Bookstore has the right to refuse the trade-in process in the following cases:
    1. The presence of a personal account on the device.
    2. The presence of a password, numeric lock, or network-related lock on the device.
    3. Failure to disable the Find My Device feature for Apple devices.
    4. The serial number or IMEI number is unclear or not visible.
    5. The device components are damaged, non-original, or have been modified.
    6. The customer refuses to provide Jarir Bookstore with the required personal information.
  11. The customer is fully responsible for disclosing all modifications or repairs that have been carried out on the device.
  12. In the event that discrepancies in the device information are discovered, or any modifications or repairs on the traded-in device that were not disclosed during the trade-in process, Jarir Bookstore has the right to demand the return of the device to the customer and the payment of the value of the traded-in device, in addition to processing fees estimated at 10% of the value of the device.
  13. The customer must ensure that a backup of their files is made and then deleted from the device. Jarir Bookstore disclaims all responsibility for any consequences resulting from failure to delete the data.
  14. The customer may cancel the trade-in process before completing it at the cashier. Once completed, the device cannot be retrieved, and Jarir Bookstore’s exchange and return policy stated on the purchase invoice will apply.
  15. Once the trade-in request is completed, returning the traded-in device (the old device) is not permitted.
  16. The trade-in voucher must be used at the same time it is issued and in the same branch that issued it. The customer has no right to claim it after its validity expires. The customer may retrieve their old device if the trade-in process is not completed.
  17. Ownership of the device transfers to Jarir Bookstore upon completion of the trade-in process and cannot be returned to the customer. This includes the accessories received with the device, for example but not limited to (data stored on the device).
  18. The value of the traded-in device or any part thereof cannot be refunded in cash.
  19. In the event of a manufacturing defect in the new device, Jarir Bookstore’s exchange and return policy stated on the purchase invoice will be followed.
  20. The old device trade-in service applies at Jarir Bookstore branches in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries, excluding the King Abdulaziz Airport branch and the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport branch.
  21. Supplier support allows replacing more than one device under the same process, whereas it only permits using the support on a single device.
  22. Jarir Bookstore provides a post-purchase exchange service for the new device within the first 7 days from the purchase invoice date. The service is subject to the following conditions:
    1. The amount will be refunded using the same payment method that was used in the invoice.
    2. The exchange amount must be less than the value of the purchase invoice.
    3. The same mobile number registered on the invoice must be used to benefit from the service.
    4. For installment customers, the amount will be refunded via purchase vouchers.

  1. Is the service available online and in branches?

    Dear Valued Customer, The service is available at all Jarir outlets in the Gulf region.

  2. What devices are covered by the service?

    Dear Customer: You can trade in any of the following devices to receive a discount applicable to all products and services sold at Jarir Bookstore.

    In the Gulf: (Smartphones – Laptops – Tablets – Smartwatches)

  3. What products can be purchased?

    Dear Customer, The trade-in can be used for all products and services sold at Jarir Bookstore.

  4. Can the trade-in be redeemed for purchase vouchers?

    Dear Customer, Yes, it is possible.

  5. Does the old device have to be purchased from Jarir?

    Dear Customer, It is not required that the device was purchased from Jarir Bookstore.

  6. Is it required to bring the accessories (adapter, charger, etc.)?

    Dear Customer, In general, bringing the accessories is not required. However, not bringing them may affect the device’s classification and valuation.

  7. Is it required to bring the new device or only the purchase invoice?

    Dear Customer, It is not required to bring the new device. It is sufficient to bring the purchase invoice only.

    * A verification code will be sent to the mobile number registered on the purchase invoice to complete the trade-in process.

  8. 8. I bought a device using the trade-in service. Can I carry out another replacement for a different device within 7 days of the purchase?

    Dear Customer, It is not possible to perform a post-purchase trade-in if the device was purchased through the trade-in service.

  9. 9. How will my device be evaluated? And can I know the trade-in value before heading to the branch?

    Dear Customer, You can obtain the device valuation by visiting the After-Sales Service Department at Jarir Bookstore branches or through the website. Please note that the valuation on the website is preliminary and may differ after visiting the branch.

  10. 10. What are the cases in which the trade-in service will be rejected?

    Dear Customer, In cases such as the presence of a personal account on the device, the presence of a password that you forgot, the Find My Device feature being enabled on Apple devices, unclear serial number on the device, or if the customer refuses to provide the required information such as name, ID number, and mobile number.   11. 11. Does the device need to be working?

    Dear Customer, The device does not need to be working. However, a non-working device may affect its classification and valuation.

  12. 12. Can I trade in two products (e.g., a smartwatch + a smartphone) or only one product?

    Dear Customer, Each customer can trade in up to 3 devices per calendar month (whether in one trade-in transaction or multiple transactions).

  13. 13. Am I allowed to trade in 3 devices per visit or on an ongoing basis?

    Dear Customer, You can benefit from trading in up to 3 devices per calendar month. The period is calculated from the beginning to the end of the month, not from the date of your previous trade-in. The number of devices is tracked using the mobile number registered during the trade-in process.

  14. 14. After the device is approved for the trade-in service, will I receive an invoice for the trade-in?

    Dear Customer, You will receive a regular purchase invoice, which will show that the new device includes the trade-in/upgrade service discount.

  15. 15. Can I buy any product with the voucher, or must the new device be from the same category as the old device?

    Dear Customer, There is no requirement to purchase a product similar to the old one. You can buy any item from the store.

  16. 16. Must the voucher be used on the same day and in the same branch?

    Dear Customer, The voucher must be used on the same day it is issued and in the same branch that issued it. It cannot be used in another branch.

  17. 17. What is the procedure if the voucher is issued but the product I want is not available?

    Dear Customer, You can exchange it for any other product or redeem it for purchase vouchers.

  18. 18. I want to cancel the trade-in process before receiving the new product?

    Dear Customer, The process can be canceled as long as payment has not been completed at the cashier.

  19. 19. I want to retrieve my device after completing the purchase at the cashier?

    Dear Customer, It is not possible to retrieve the old device after completing the upgrade process at the cashier. Jarir Bookstore’s exchange and return policy will then apply, and the customer has no right to claim the old device or cancel the service.

  20. 20. The product I want is currently on a discount offer. Can I still get it?

    Dear Customer, Yes, that is possible. The discount will be applied to the final price of the product, including its current offer.

  21. 21. My old device is valued at 58 KWD. Can I buy a product worth 53 KWD?

    Dear Customer, It is not possible to purchase any product whose value is less than the total value of the traded-in devices.

  22. 22. Can the voucher be used to purchase from the website, or must it be used in the branch only?

    Dear Customer, The voucher can only be used on the same day it is issued and in the same branch that issued it. It cannot be used on the website.

  23. 23. I brought 3 devices for trade-in. I want to combine the first voucher worth 165 KWD (Category A), the second worth 123 KWD (Category B), and the third worth 123 KWD (Category C). Is this possible?

    Dear Customer, Yes, this is possible. You will receive a total voucher worth 370 KWD for purchasing the new product.

  24. 24. Can I get an additional discount?

    Dear Customer, Yes. There are special company trade-in offers (such as Samsung, Apple, etc.) that are available for a limited time. These offers follow the same terms and conditions as Jarir’s trade-in service, with the only difference being that the customer receives an extra discount from the offering company.

  25. 25. The trade-in price is not satisfactory. What are the available solutions?

    Dear Customer, You can benefit from supplier support or bring more than one device for trade-in.

  26. 26. My device type is not listed in the trade-in list?

    Dear Customer, You can select “Other Models” and the device will be added during the upcoming period.
