Under the Moon

Bull Dog Charge; Red Rover; Sea, Ship, Shore and Tip the Can - just some of the childrens games enjoyed for generations on our urban streets. This book captures, in an illustrated guide, the wealth of urban street games played by Irish children between 6 and 12 years, reflecting a world where children are active, outdoors and having fun. A How To guide for urban street games, aimed at parents, children, teachers and youth leaders, this is a collection of over 40 urban street games. Dividing the games into categories - Running Games; Skipping Games; Hand-Rhymes / Hand-shakes; Fixed Location; Mobile Games, each chapter gives precise instructions, like a recipe, for playing each of the games. A book to be shared among generations, it will evoke happy memories through nostalgia for the older generation, whetting the appetite to play outdoors for the younger generation while providing teachers and youth leaders with a clearly laid-out instruction manual.
