Theatre of Air

What if theatre were not confined to a stage, but lived in the air itself? In Theatre of Air, Arun Dev Ray reimagines Environmental Theatre as a practice of coexistence, where performance unfolds through breath, space, and attention. Drawing from performance theory, Indian theatrical traditions, and philosophical reflection, the book explores theatre as an ecological act shaped as much by silence as by gesture. Lyrical yet rigorous, Theatre of Air invites artists, scholars, and attentive readers to see performance not as representation, but as awareness-and to recognise that to breathe together is already to perform.
