The value and effectiveness of traditional medicine

This book explores the role and impact of traditional medicine in managing the Covid-19 pandemic in the NDjamena-Nord Health District, Chad. This study analyzes the traditional medicinal practices employed by local healers and their approach to the pandemic. It highlights the importance of traditional medicines in places where access to modern care is limited. It describes how certain ancestral practices, such as the use of medicinal plants, have been mobilized by the population to strengthen their immune systems and treat the symptoms of Covid-19. The book also looks at the challenges faced by healthcare professionals, including mistrust of modern medicine and communication issues between traditional practitioners and healthcare professionals. The author stresses the need to integrate traditional medicines into the overall healthcare system, for a more holistic approach to public health. Finally, the book argues for recognition of cultural values and ancestral knowledge in the fight against pandemics.
