The Dachshund - A Dog Anthology (A Vintage Dog Books Breed Classic)

The Dachshund - the German badger dog - is a long-bodied scent hound bred to go to ground after badger and fox. The Daschund gathers the scattered early literature of the breed - its history, description, character and management - into a single readable volume.

These collected accounts range across the Dachshunds history and origins, its description and character, and the practical business of rearing, breeding and showing it, assembled from the works of the fanciers and authorities who knew the breed best.

A rewarding companion for Dachshund enthusiasts and breed historians alike, this modern edition keeps a wealth of early material in print and within easy reach.

This edition features:

• Brings the breeds foundational writers together in one collection.
• Covers the breeds history, origins, description and character.
• Includes period guidance on breeding, rearing and showing.
