Zipfs Law and Its Application

A linguist George Zipf-who was an American linguist and philologist and studied statistical occurrences in different languages, realized something unusual about how frequently people using words in a language. After that, George Zipf recognised that a small number of words are used all time, by comparing a large amount of these words which are used so rarely. Then, George Zipf arranged those words using their popularity, then a wonderful design performed. The number one which is" the" the most used word in English, was always used twice as often as the second list word, and three times as often as the third list. Nowadays theory of probability is widely used in different fields of research areas. And one of the branches of this theory- Zippfs law has an important role in probability. Zipfs Law is a common law applied for different kinds of observations. Many investigations were carried out to find the correspondences between Zipfs Law and different real-life situations. This study deals with the correspondence of cities and population.
