From a very young age growing up in Shanghai, China, the real Zaydee Mae was captivated by the moon and was always up for an adventure. While living there, she and her mother (the author) learned all about the Chinese lunar calendar (农历) traditions. Zaydee Maes fascination with the moon and love of adventure, coupled with the authors new found knowledge of the lunar calendar, inspired a story to slowly take shape. One day of a flight from Shanghai to Niseko, Japan, the author put pen to paper and wrote the first draft of this book.

The story conveys the message that the person in the moon is in fact a reflection of every person, and that everyone everywhere is more alike than we realize. These messages, given the challenges in the world today, will resonate with individuals, both young and old.

Most importantly, the story is humorous and will become a favorite not only with children, but with their parents too. To reach the moon with Zaydee Mae, youll not only need to turn the pages, youll also need to turn the book.
