The Dramas of Heinrich von Kleist: A Biographical and Critical Study

A great Prussian dramatist is viewed in the light of his times, in his relation to his contemporaries and to the important events of his day. Much of the conflicting criticism of this enigmatic character is reviewed, and his eight dramas are analyzed in detail both as works of art and as revelations of the authors mind and character. The volume includes an extensive bibliography of Kleist literature.
