Taking a New Path?

In this indispensable book for anyone who cares about the human being as a fully socially integrated citizen, the author Maria Lucilma Freitas de Sousa looks at the context of the crisis in the prison system to discuss a question for society that is beyond bars. TREADING A NEW PATH? THE CHALLENGES OF INSERTION BEYOND THE BARRIERS traces the insensitivity of the States constituent agents, delving into the depths of the prison system and bringing to the surface the rottenness of this world that is only built by the States indifference to the purposely forgotten social mass. Insensitivity and/or indifference that is not conjunctural, but as the author reveals, in a globalised world, governments are on the verge of impotence in the face of structural crises, while the governed are increasingly dissatisfied. Consistently developed, the book clearly offers elements for understanding the atrocities of this space which, instead of reinserting, leads to dehumanisation.
