ON THE HILL OR Not Mrs. Rossiters Canary

This witty and intriguing novel is set in the far-famed city of Wagga Wagga, NSW - to whose history and attractions it is an invaluable guide. It unfolds the astonishing story of a bizarre and atrocious murder there: of how and why it was committed, how a cunning conspiracy - involving another, no less bizarre, murder - was set in train to baffle and befool the investigators, and how the mystery was penetrated and, in the course of an overwhelming climax - one of the most incredible things in recent Australian literature - the good ended happily and the bad unhappily. It will be enjoyed by readers with a taste for wit, high style and a lively sense of the ways in which the Past can inhabit and illuminate the Present and also suddenly bite you on the bum.
