Man-Eaters of Kumaon

First published in 1944, this is really something different in the field of hunting adventure -- and very good reading it makes. Some of it is most exciting -- all written with a truly amusing straight-face, dispassionate coolness. Its a true account of the famous hunters experiences with man-eating tigers in the jungles of India. He describes in detail the stalking, the tigers victims, and some of the most hairbreadth escapes that have been recorded -- all the more harrowing because of his calm detachment. Good armchair adventure -- not just for hunting enthusiasts, but for men and women -- boys and girls -- who like straight adventure, even though its a bit gory at times.Once you start reading, it will whet the appetite for more until the last page.Read more
