Major-General Griepenkerl, commandant of the Prussian fortress of Thorn, devised and published his first edition of this important work in 1890 to provide German Officers an aid to tactics and orders. Describes military orders including marches, quartering, protection of a convoy, retreats, attacks, advance guards, and outpost operations. Usefully when translated to English the imaginary forces were considered to be organised along British lines.
