ELEMENTS OF TACTICKS AND INTRODUCTION TO MILITARY EVOLUTIONS FOR THE INFANTRY 1787

Published in 1787 on the eve of the French Revolution, this manual of infantry tactics was written by an anonymous senior and celebrated Prussian General. Prussia was the small country lifted to military greatness by the genius of Frederick the Great. As the 18th century ended it was the predominant military power in Europe - little knowing of its coming humiliation at the hands of Napoleon. Translated by Isaac Landmann, a Professor of Fortification and Artillery at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, this book offers an insight into Europes military thinking at the dawn of the age of Napoleon.
