About this Product
Death Doulas are ageless beings with one of the most important burdens of existence. They gather the spirits of the recently departed and carry them on to their final journey. The first and most important characteristic of any death Doula, is that they are a bird.
Kanik doesnt know why she was chosen by her mentor, an ancient California condor named Nem, to be the first ever human death Doula. She does know that she loves her work. Nurtured by the guidance and friendship of Nem, she begins to understand the true nature of the multiverse, and the place of humans within it.
When the birds turn on humanity, Kanik finds herself torn between loyalty to her species, and loyalty to a mentor she adores. She thinks she knows what she wants, and then shes called to carry the soul of a young warrior, and everything changes.
Can she find a way to save the warriors spark, the very spark which stokes the fires of the human spirit? Will she be the one human with the strength and skills to stop the birds from destroying us all?
Follow her journey in Volume 2 of the Bird Brain Books: Carry On.
