About this Product
Self-help groups in India have their roots in the Self-Empower Women Association (SEWA), which Ella Bhatt founded in 1972 with the intention of increasing the income of low-income and independent women workers.Through SHG Bank Linkage Project (SBLP), NABARD and the Reserve Bank of India permitted SHGs to create savings bank accounts in banks. The study has given an overview about the accounting practices, as well as auditing procedures followed by the SHGs in West Bengal. The findings of the study offer strategic recommendations for SHGs to maintain the transparency of books of accounts and also ensures their better operations in the West Bengal.
