Jungs Typology in Perspective: The Fusional Complex and the Unlived Life

In a spirited and accessible interpretation, Angelo Spoto presents at least four perspectives on Jungs philosophy of typology, including an analysis of the popular Myers-Brigg Type Indicator. He shows where typology fits into Jungs broader analytical work and illustrates how typology, while just a branch of the psychology of Jung, can lead to a deeper understanding of Jungs entire model of the human personality. The book includes a forward written by Robert Johnson.

REVISED AND EXPANDED, this edition is a comprehensive guide that:

• Addresses the relationship of type development and personal transformation to the individuation process, the underlying drive toward wholeness.
• Relates the emergence of typology as it occurred in C. G. Jungs own thought.
• Analyzes the popular Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(R) and other type inventories as rewarding alternatives or complements to myth, story, and dream analysis.
• Places typology in perspective to Jungs larger model of human psychology, making all of Jungs work more accessible, practical, and less intimidating.

" Angelo Spotos interpretation of Jungs typology is both spirited and forthright in a sense which Jung could approve. Mr. Spotos book reflects a constant awareness of Jungs work as a whole. His writing style is clear, vigorous, and balanced." - Robert A. Johnson, Jungian analyst and author of the books, He, She, We, Inner Gold and Ecstasy
