Introduction to Microbiology

This book evolved as a result of my passion to teach microbiology as a course. It is intended specifically as a text to accompany the one semester ""Introduction to Microbiology"" course taken by National Diploma II (ND II) and 200 Level students of Science Laboratory Technology and Microbiology in Polytechnics and Universities respectively. It attempts a concise presentation of basic facts which can be covered in a three unit course. The text is built around the biology of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi and general methods of studying them. In recent years because of the economic situation of the country (Nigeria), teaching in Nigerian higher institutions has become very difficult due to the non-availability of standard and current text books of avoidable price.
