In "Essays in the Art of Writing", Robert Louis Stevenson explores different literary techniques and offers interesting insights into the writing of "Treasure Island" (1883) and "The Master of Ballantrae" (1889). These fascinating and useful essays will appeal to those with a keen interest in improving their writing skills, and they constitute a must-read for fans and collectors of Stevensons seminal work. The chapters of this book include: "On Some Technical Elements of Style in Literature", "The Morality of the Profession of Letters", "Books which have Influenced Me", "A Note on Realism", "The Genesis of The Master of Ballantrae", "Preface to the Master of Ballantrae", etcetera. Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson (1850 - 1894) was a famous Scottish essayist, novelist, poet, and travel writer, perhaps best known for the "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde". This book is being republished in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition - complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.
