emerge(ncy) is a collection of poems by nour khairi exploring the process of becoming. a human soul goes through cycles of expansion and contraction reflected in these raw poems about the conflicting nature of identity, barriers to love and maturity, spiritual growth. the chaotic and absurd world is a backdrop to this seemingly lonesome journey towards a sense of self. the resistance of a violent reality of inequality and injustice is apparent and sometimes a central focus of the pieces. the writer draws from their lived experiences of chaos, resistance, love, separation and independence, thrusting the reader into an urgent outward journey towards the self.
