When unfounded dogmas get formulated as religious doctrines, they acquire the status of creed and become part of the official interpretation of faith.

Minds become closed when dogma, tradition, rituals, superstitions and speculations assume the status of faith, rationalisation gets preference over reasoning, and principles for the interpretation of the Quran given by the Quran itself are disregarded.

It is necessary that the Muslims reopen their minds and reconstruct Islamic theology and exegesis based on the Quranic principles.

Critically examining some of the basic tenets of Asharite Islamic theology, the study argues that they conflict with the ontology, cosmology and epistemology as deriveable from the Quran.
