Volakis is the Roy and Lois Chope Chair Professorof Engineering and also serves as Director of the Electroscience Laboratory.A native of Chios, Greece, Dr. Volakis obtained his Ph.D. from TheOhio State University in 1982 and was a professor at The Universityof Michigan (1984-2002) prior to returning to The Ohio State University.He has co-authored over 240 journal articles and 350 conference papers, andis co-author of the books: Approximate Boundary Conditions in Electromagnetics(IEE Press) Finite Element Method for Electromagnetics (IEEE Press-Wiley),and Frequency Domain Hybrid Finite Element Methods in Electromagnetics(Morgan & Claypool). Dr. Volakis is a Fellow of IEEE and a former Presidentof the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. He graduated/mentoredover 50 Ph.D. students/post-docs and is listed by ISI among the top250 most referenced authors in Engineering/Computer Science.
